SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- A driver was rescued Friday morning in Santa Barbara after a vehicle went over the side of the highway and caught on fire.

It happened just after 10:00am on Highway 101 south bound at the entrance road to Nojoqui Park. Firefighters found the vehicle about seventy feet over the side. Firefighters had to use chainsaws to remove vegetation to gain access to the vehicle. A Good Samaritan was able to pull the driver from the burning vehicle.

It took about one hour to get the driver to safety. The driver was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
