SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Some people in San Luis Obispo didn't get much sleep early this morning.
A truck rammed into a utility pole at around 2 a.m.
It happened on the corner of Toro and Walnut Street near the 101 off ramp.
Police say they believe the driver was drunk. Neighbors say he tried to run from the scene but his truck got stuck under the pole and phone lines.
"I heard a loud crash and screeching and I thought somebody crashed into my neighbors house and I looked out the window and I see this white truck slammed into this pole and he keeps trying to reverse and get away but this thing keeps falling down more and more," says neighbor Allison Rice.
Many neighbors in the area complain about that off ramp and say it's a very dangerous intersection.
The suspect is 21 year old, Gilberto Garzon who was taken to San Luis Obispo County Jail.
