Semi Truck Driver Killed in Accident Near Highway 154, CHP Investigating

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. - California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara County Fire responded to a fatal semi truck roll over, just near Highway 154 in Santa Ynez.

According to CHP, a call came in around 11:30am concerning a truck roll over on private property near the entrance to the Rock Quarry, directly across from the Bradbury Dam Observation area. According to records, that location is owned and operated by "Bee Rock Quarry-Granite Construction Company."

Santa Barbara County Fire issued the following information about the crash:

At 11:37am, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBC FD) responded to a vehicle accident, located at 1700 Highway 154. The accident occurred ¾ of a mile south of Highway 154 on an access road that leads to a rock quarry across from the Bradbury Dam. The property is also known as the San Lucas Ranch.

SBC FD responded two engines and a battalion chief to the scene. SBCFD was assisted by the California Highway Patrol and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department.

First arriving firefighters found a big rig with a single trailer that was hauling rock, had rolled over. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. Firefighter-paramedics initiated CPR but were unable to revive the driver.

No information concerning the driver or the driver's employer will be released by SBCFD. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
