Plane Down in Templeton, Pilot Walks Away

TEMPLETON, Calif. - California Highway Patrol and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department confirm a small plane made an emergency landing just near Volpi Ysabel Road in Paso Robles.  The plane according to the FAA is a Hummel H5 Fixed Wing Single-Engine plane registered to David Dickey from Pismo Beach. 

Central Coast News spoke with Dickey who said he was flying from Paso Robles to San Luis Obispo when he lost power in his engine.  Unable to get the engine running, he made an emergency landing in a riverbed.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Dickey was the only person on board the plane. Except for a few scrapes Dickey was not hurt. The Sheriff's Office is securing the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are sending representatives to investigate the crash.
