VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. - The new Atlas V Launch isn't the only thing that's skyrocketing Vandenberg's fame.  NASA has announced that Landsat V, launched from the Base in 1984, has earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Landsat V launch has broken the record for "longest operating earth observation satellite."  The satellite delivered high-quality images of earth's surface for more than 28 years.

Tuesday's Atlas V Launch will continue the Landsat tradition of gathering these images.  If it's successful, it will be renamed "Landsat VIII."
