
SANTA MARIA, CA – (February 12, 2013) – Every year since 1989, Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC) has been proud to host its Annual Golf Tournament. This year marks MRMC's 24th Annual Leland "Butch" Simas and Felix Fly, M.D., Memorial Golf Tournament and golf enthusiasts throughout the Central Coast are invited to participate.
The 24th Annual MRMC Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Santa Maria Country Club, 505 West Waller Lane, Santa Maria. All tournament proceeds will benefit the programs and services of the new Marian Regional Medical Center.
"The annual Marian Golf Tournament is not only an opportunity for community members to enjoy a day on the golf course, it is also an opportunity to invest in our community in support of Marian's new hospital, new technologies, programs and services," explains Alex Harrison, M.D., 2013 Marian Golf Tournament Committee Chair. "The funds raised through this year's golf tournament will directly benefit the lives and health of our patients and community."
The annual golf tournament is named in honor of Leland "Butch" Simas and Felix Fly, M.D. Butch Simas, affectionately known as "Mr. Elk," was a strong supporter of Marian Regional Medical Center and the Santa Maria community. Felix Fly, M.D., was beloved by his patients, highly respected by his physician colleagues and prior to his death in 1991 at the age of 41, he devoted much of his free time to the community and to the Annual MRMC Golf Tournament.
The tournament entry fee is $250 per golfer. The entry fee includes the green fee, a cart, lunch, tee prizes and the Victory Reception. The tournament registration deadline is March 8. Participants will be competing for a variety of prizes including a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro RS sponsored by Home Motors. Event registration will begin at 9 a.m., the shotgun tee-off will take place at 10 a.m. and the tournament will conclude with the Victory Reception at 3:30 p.m.
