Local Toddler Battled Cancer, Stole Hearts of Thousands

SALINAS- A Central Coast family's tragedy is grabbing national attention.

Last week, Salinas 2-year-old Matthew Robert Pierce lost his battle with Leukemia.

His family kept a blog documenting his triumphs and struggles with the cancer that ultimately took his life.

This week, he maxed out on Facebook for the friends he has with a grand total of 5,000 supporters.

The family of Baby Matthew said they're overwhelmed by the strong outpour of love and support from everyone on social media.

There will be a barbeque this Sunday at noon in honor of Baby Matthew. For details or to read more on Matthew's full story visit:
