SANTA BARBARA COUNTY - Two men who currently run Central Coast law enforcement agencies are closely connected to the Christopher Dorner deadly rampage, manhunt and standoff.
Among former LAPD officers now working in Central Coast law enforcement is Santa Barbara Police Chief Cam Sanchez who knew some of those mentioned in Dorner's rambling manifesto.
"I know a lot of the people down there", adds Santa Maria Police Chief Ralph Martin who spent most of his law enforcement career with the L. A. County Sheriff's Dept.
"I worked closely with (LAPD Chief) Charlie Beck at LAPD when he was in the South Bureau", Martin says, "I was in the Region 2 with the Sheriff's Department so, I know a lot of these people and worked with them for almost 36 years, so a lot of these people I know very well."
Chief Martin says he's still trying to understand the rage behind Christopher Dorner's deadly rampage.
"Its so odd to me because I've relieved a number of people from duty", Martin says, "I've had to terminate employees, I've never ever thought that they would turn homicidal, I try to put my arms around it, but I can't figure it out."
Lompoc Police Captain and former LAPD officer Don Deming was also mentioned by name in Dorner's manifesto.
