Child Molestation Case May Include More Victims

Posted: Updated:

GOLETA, Calif.- Months after Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a suspected child molester and say there could be more victims.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies say the suspect is 47-year-old Joshua Valenzuela.

"When detectives served search warrants at his home and seized his work computer, they found evidence of homemade digital pornography depicting victims who are possible minors," said Kelly Hoover, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

Back in October, detectives showed up at Valenzuela's work, General Electric Intelligent Platforms on the 6700 block of Hollister Avenue and arrested him, but investigators suspect they're more victims.

"We have reason to believe there are more victims out there and that's why we are asking for the public's assistance to identify those victims," said Hoover.

Just one month before Valenzuela's arrest, he posted pictures on his Facebook page smiling with two young boys and writing comments like: "can't wait to see them..I'm leaving right now to start my quote "daddy" evening!"

"Mr. Valenzuela has ties to both the Buellton and Goleta communities. At the time of his arrest he was living in Buellton," said Hoover.

Employees who worked with Valenzuela at General Electric wouldn't go on camera and said they were not allowed to comment about what happened, while nearby businesses were disgusted to hear they worked next to a suspected child molester.

"Valenzuela is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and if convicted he will have to register as a child sex offender," said Hoover.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call the Sheriff's North County Criminal Investigative Division at (805) 934-6170 or to leave an anonymous tip call (805) 681-4171.
