SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The California Highway Patrol says one man is dead and his passenger received minor injuries after a motorcycle accident.
Just before 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, driver Fred Garrett Jr. and passenger Kari Cone were driving southbound on Highway 227 south of Via Chula Robles when Garrett crashed.
Officers say they were riding with a group of motorcycles and were driving 35 mph. Both passengers were taken to Sierra Vista Hospital where Garrett died. Both Garrett and Cone were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
