NEAR GAVIOTA -- Just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon the California Highway Patrol responded to an accident where two cars had driven off the road into a creek.
The accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 just south of Highway 1 near the Gaviota tunnel.
Officers say a 39 year old Santa Ynez man, Wesley Tiffany was driving too fast and spun out on the wet roads hitting another car.
The collision sent both cars off the road and down a 60 foot embankment into a creek. Officers say there were no major injuries.
Officers closed one lane of northbound traffic for around 2 and a half hours while the cars were towed out of the creek.
