Home Invasion Robbery in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.--Santa Cruz Police are investigating reports of a home invasion robbery that happened just before 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, on the 500 block of Poplar Ave.

When officers arrived, they found the people at the home holding one of the suspects, Cuactemoc Xilonzochilt-Zamora, on the front lawn.

The suspect is 28 years old and a resident of Santa Cruz.

The other suspect is described as an Hispanic man, 25-30 years old, with a dark complexion and is still on the loose.

The people inside the home told police that the two men entered a bedroom and demanded money.  They said one was armed with a screwdriver while the other had a decorative sword belonging to the victims.

A child in the home was able to call 911.

Mr. Xilonzochilt-Zamora was taken into custody and  booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on charges of  robbery, burglary, false imprisonment, possession of methamphetamine, and assault with a deadly weapon. Mr. Xilonzochilt-Zamora has a history of previous arrests including burglary and drug offenses.
