Shumey Deemed Legally Sane When He Killed His Mother

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Christopher Shumey has been deemed legally sane and found guilty of second degree murder.

The 36-year-old was convicted earlier this month of killing his mother, Vandenberg Village school teacher Karen Shumey back in September 2011.

The shooting happened after they got into a fight at his San Luis Obispo apartment. Shumey faces a maximum of forty years to life without credits. His sentencing date is scheduled for March 21st.
