Car Theft Gets Interesting for Police in Santa Cruz

Posted: Updated:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Police find a woman hiding under an R.V., after she allegedly stole a woman's car.

Santa Cruz police responded to the incident on Button Street yesterday.

After the owner contacted the police department to report the theft, she began to drive around the area searching for her car, and located her car a few blocks away, on Grant St., parked in a driveway.

The owner contacted a female, later identified as Candice Jones sitting in the driver seat.

As the police were responding in the area, Ms. Jones told the owner of the stolen car she was not going to jail and fled the area on foot.

When officers arrived on scene, a yard to yard search was conducted with the use of a Police K9. Ms. Jones was located and apprehended by the Police K9 in the 200 block of Avalon. Ms Jones was hiding under a parked R.V on private property.

Ms. Jones is currently on probation for Auto Theft and was booked for violating her probation, Auto Theft, and Resisting Arrest.
