Victim Hit and Killed By Train in Carpinteria Identified

CARPINTERIA, Calif - Santa Barbara County Sheriffs have identified the man who was struck and killed by a train earlier this month in Carpinteria.

They say 51-year-old James Robert Boltz was hit on Padaro and Santa Claus Lane on February 12th by a Union Pacific Train.  All trains were stopped in the area during the initial investigation.

Union Pacific personnel reported the accident to authorities around 9:40pm.

The cause of death is still yet to be determined, pending the toxicology report.
