SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Lorena Arenas, convicted of child torture will not get a new trial. Arenas and her defense team were arguing for a new trial, but the judge in the case denied it.
According to the Deputy District Attorney, Brandon Jebens the ruling by the judge means Arenas will continue to serve her current sentence of life, with her first shot at the possibility of parole in seven years.
Arenas was convicted of child torture for pouring scalding hot water on her daughter.
