Senator Hagel Confirmed as Defense Secretary

WASHINGTON, DC- According to the Washington Post Senator Chuck Hagel has won the vote Tuesday to take over for central coast native Leon Panetta as defense secretary.

The Senate confirmed Hagel in a 58 to 41 vote, ending a nearly two-month debate that included a filibuster against the nominee.

We told you Monday, Leon Panetta was working as the chief from his home in Carmel Valley until the transition happened.

Panetta will go back to his post at the Panetta Institute.
