SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The family of KEYT Anchor Paula Lopez is speaking out about why she was missing.
The family released a statement online, thanking the community for their support. They mentioned that Lopez was experiencing a "medical condition" that caused her to be unable to communicate with them. They say she is now receiving medical care.
Mark Danielson, General Manager at KEYT, released a statement, saying "On behalf of the KEYT family, we are thrilled to learn that our beloved friend and colleague Paula Lopez is now safe. We are looking forward to her quick recovery."
Lopez was reported missing Wednesday morning, but the family called authorities around 5:30pm to report that she was home safe. Authorities used helicopters and two K9 units in the search.
