Free Cell Phone Service For Low Income Families Approved

Assurance Wireless is now providing free cell phones and service to families that are eligible. California residents who receive Supplemental Security Income, food stamps, Medicaid and other public assistance or who earn less than $15,000 per year can receive free cellphones and service as of today.

The program is an extension to an already existing federally funded program called Lifeline. Lifeline until now has only been offering free landline services.
