SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. --The man killed in a deadly hit and run in Santa Margarita Sunday afternoon has been identified.
According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department:
"The Coroner's Unit of the San Luis Obispo County
Sheriff's Office has identified the motorcyclist who died on West Pozo Road in
Santa Margarita on 3-10-13. The man is identified as 47-year-old Charles Alan
Raffield of Santa Margarita. An autopsy is pending. The Sheriff's Office is
conducting the death investigation. The CHP is conducting the accident
investigation."
Just after 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon the California Highway Patrol received a call of a motorcycle accident on West Pozo Road south of Las Positas Road.
Officers said a motorcycle rider crashed trying to make a turn and was thrown from his bike.
An off-duty paramedic pronounced the driver of the motorcycle dead before the CHP made it to the scene.
