GOLETA -- Just after 4:00 a.m. a fire broke out at a home on Ribera Drive. Santa Barbara County Fire responded with six engines.
When firefighters arrived on scene, the fire was 2 alarm and flames could be seen shooting out of the roof of the two-story house.
Officials say 8 people are now homeless because of the fire, but the Red Cross has been called to find them a place to live.
Crews will remain on scene throughout the morning
overhauling the fire. The home had no working smoke detectors.
An investigation is underway to determine what started the fire.
