Hung Jury in Denunzio Trial, D.A.'s Office Must Decide if They Will Try Again

Posted: Updated:

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - There is a hung jury in the Tony Denunzio trial. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office will now have to decided whether or not they will retry the case.  The breakdown of the vote was 8 to 4 in favor of Denunzio being found guilty.

According to Deputy District Attorney Mai Trieu, the department hopes to make a decision regarding trying Denunzio again by Thursday, when the case returns to court at 1:30pm.

In October of 2011, Denunzio was pulled over and arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license, which he pled not guilty.  During the arrest dash cam video showed Denunzio in a scuffle with Santa Barbara Police Officer Aaron Tudor.

In the video, an officer is seen punching Denunzio and allegedly tasering him.
