Auto Theft Suspect Arrested

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A man was arrested after authorities say he stole a car from a McDonalds parking lot in Santa Barbara.

Police arrested 26-year-old David Peterson of Santa Barbara for stealing a new Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck last Saturday on State Street, holding $2,000 dollars worth of tools.

Police were able to locate the car using OnStar technology and found Peterson hiding in the bushes in a residential area.

He was arrested for the felony of auto theft with a prior conviction, as well as two misdemeanors for destroying evidence and resisting or delaying an officer.   He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on $30,000 bail.
