Salinas Man Sentenced 15 To Life For Sexually Assaulting Relative

SALINAS, Calif. - A judge has sentenced 34-year-old Rodolfo Barreto, of Salinas, to serve 15 years to life in state prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old female relative, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo announced Thursday.

The jury rendered its verdict of guilty against Barreto on Nov. 15, 2012.

According to the district attorney's office, Barreto sexually assaulted the victim in his Las Palmas home on July 4, 2010. She reported the incident the next day to her mother.

Barreto was arrested a few days later.

Barreto will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
