Dystiny Myers Murder Case: Cody Miller Gets Life Without Parole

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A judge has sentenced Cody Miller to life in prison without parole for the murder of 15-year-old Dystiny Myers.

According to his attorney, Miller said he didn't feel like he deserved a deal so he wanted to receive this sentence.

Miller was charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

On Monday, Miller pleaded not guilty to all charges. He also chose not to testify against the other four suspects.

All five defendants -- Rhonda Wisto, Frank York, Ty Hill, Jason Greenwell and Cody Miller -- originally pleaded not guilty to first degree murder charges.

Greenwell agreed to take a plea deal in exchange for his court testimony, and Hill pleaded guilty to first degree murder with four enhancements and was sentenced to life without parole.

Myers' body was found in a shallow grave east of Highway 58 in Santa Margarita on Sept. 26, 2010.

Cal Fire was called to the area for a brush fire and found the 15-year-old girl's badly burned body.
