SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- A defendant in the Dystiny Myers murder case, Cody miller, apologized directly to Dystiny Myers' family Tuesday for killing the 15-year-old. Another apology was heard in court from defendant Jason Greenwell. Greenwell wrote a letter to Myer's family just days after she was killed.
In court Greenwell said more than once he wants to make things right. He cooperated with the district attorneys office and police early on in the investigation and murder case. He took the stand Monday and Tuesday against the remaining defendants Rhonda Wisto and Frank York.
"All your daughter ever talked about is how much she loved and missed you, it eats me up inside every time I close my eyes because I have to re-live that horrible night but I know it is nothing compared to the pain and agony that you are forced to go through," said Greenwell as he read the letter in court. Greenwell went on to say he wanted to give the family some kind of explanation, and hoped his letter would help them in some way.
In court the family was in tears and even some members of the jury were emotional. Greenwell took the stand as part of his plea bargain to testify in exchange for a lighter sentence of life with the possibility of parole in 15 years.
