Santa Barbara Bank and Trust Layoffs False, Says Company

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - News that Santa Barbara Bank and Trust's 400 employees were notified that they would be laid off is false.

Central Coast News contacted Union Bank managers today. Santa Barbara Bank and Trust merged with Union Bank last year. Union bank spokesman Dan Weidman says no layoff notices were handed to any employee in the Santa Barbara Bank and Trust section.

"It's inaccurate to say that there are up to 400 Santa Barbara Bank and Trust employees who will be laid off. That's just simply not true," says Weidman.

Weidman says there is no impact in terms of layoffs with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust employees.
