SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria Police tell Central Coast News that three more suspects have been arrested Thursday for the homicide of Anthony Ibarra of Santa Maria.
The three arrests are connected with Monday's homicide that left one man's body in the back of a U-Haul. According to police, there is at least one more family connection.
David Maldonado, the father of another suspect, Ramon Maldonado, was arrested at the Santa Barbara County Probation Department earlier today. Two additional suspects, Santos Manuel Sauceda and Robert Sosa were caught at a traffic stop and were arrested without incident on the 700 Block of East Central Avenue just before 2 p.m. Thursday.
These arrests bring the total amount of suspects connected to the homicide to seven. The other suspects, Reyes Gonzales, Ramon Maldonado, Carmen Cardenas and Pedro Torres all are scheduled to be in court Friday for arraignment.
Most of the suspects face murder charges, and this case is eligible for the death penalty because of special allegations of torture. Cardenas and Torres face accessory to murder charges.
