SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The SLO County Anti-Gang Coordinating Commission is getting ready for its 3rd Annual Youth and Gang Violence Prevention Conference.
The "Building Partnerships" conference will be held Friday, April 26, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Mountainbrook Church located at 1775 Calle Joaquin in San Luis Obispo.
This conference will feature workshops that raise awareness and enhance partnerships for gang awareness, prevention, and abatement in the SLO community.
Al Valdez -- a UC Irvine professor who spent nearly 30 years in law enforcement -- and Azim Khamisa -- who became an activist after her son was shot and killed by a gang member -- will speak at the event.
