LOS OLIVOS, Calif. - There is new information about a fatal accident in Los Olivos. The man killed was from Shell Beach. California Highway patrol says it happened when an SUV traveling on Highway 154 pulled in front of a motorcyclist.
Earlier this afternoon, CHP responded to a collision at the intersection of Highway 154 and Alamo Pintado Avenue. According to CHP, a 17-year old Los Olivos local was traveling westbound on the 154 in an SUV. The driver made a left-hand turn right into the path of an eastbound motorcycle. The motorcycle slammed into the car and the 51-year old motorcyclist from Shell Beach was ejected and died at the scene.
Dave Henrey is all too familiar with the dangers of the intersection. Henrey is the president of the safety committee at Los Olivos Elementary School, which is at the corner of the intersection. He says the dangers of the intersection are well known in the community.
"I will take a little extra time to go through the town of Los Olivos just so I don't have to make that left hand turn there," says Henrey.
The name of the 51-year old motorcyclist is not being released until the family is notified. CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
