BOSTON - Two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, killing three people and injuring more than 150 people.
A 12-year-old boy from the Bay Area was among those who were injured, friends and family confirmed to CBS San Francisco.
The boy's mother, Katherine Hern, of Martinez, was running in the marathon. The boy suffered a non-life threatening injury wound to one of his legs and had surgery at an area hospital, CBS SF reports.
Hern posted on her Facebook page that her son, Aaron, is in the ICU but stable. She says he will be in the hospital for the next 7 to 10 days for follow-up surgeries.
