SALINAS, Calif. -- Police have arrested 31-year old Hector Luis Martinez. He was wanted for allegedly stabbing a man in the chest and fleeing.
Martinez turned himself into Paso Robles police on Monday night, said police. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of attempted homicide.
Officers found a 47-year old victim who had been stabbed in the chest and arm bleeding inside a home Monday morning in Salinas.
It happened along the 100 block of Capitol Street. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and later flown to a Bay Area hospital for treatment, said police. Officers said the victim's condition was serious, but is in stable condition as of this morning.
Investigators identified the suspect at 31-year old Hector Luis Martinez. According to police, Martinez unexpectedly arrived at a relative's home and was allowed to stay the night. Police said Martinez stabbed the victim three times in the chest at the home then fled. Martinez is not related to the victim.
Officers are still investigating what provoked the attack.
