SALINAS, Calif- A man who police believe is homeless was injured Monday night after he was hit by a car on Bridge Street just before midnight.
Police say they 39-year-old victim was in the middle of the street when they arrived on scene. He was unresponsive and suffering from a head injury. After he was taken to a local hospital, he was life flighted to a Bay area hospital for treatment.
Police believe that the victim may was setting up a makeshift tent near an encampment in the area when the accident happened. According to investigators, the victim lost his balance as a grey colored sedan sped past the victim who was struck by the side of the vehicle knocking him to the ground.
