SALINAS, Calif. -- An officer accidentally hit a 7-year old boy biking along the roadway, said the Salinas Police Department.
It happened Tuesday night around 7:00 p.m. on Clay Street. The officer was slowing down for a stop sign when the boy rode his bike out in front of several cars, said police. The boy was not wearing a helmet.
The victim was knocked to the ground and complained of head pain. The 7-year old was taken to the hospital, treated and released, according to police.
A preliminary investigation showed the officer did not appear negligent in this accident, said police, but they are still investigating.
