SALINAS, Calif. -- More traffic change is coming to Highway 101 for part of the Prunedale Improvement Project.
The change comes a week after the first milestone traffic switch. Starting at 10:00 a.m., Caltrans will divert southbound 101 traffic which takes drivers up and over Russel and Espinosa Roads.
The new Sala Road interchange will also open, giving drivers another way to get to Russell and Espinosa Roads more safely.
Local businesses said the new traffic plans will likely help their business if more customers are able to drive southbound without any problems. "The one thing the new freeway does create, it does create a frontage road that will make it safe for my customers to come in and out of my lot without a problem," said Rob Kennefick.
Kennefick, a local business owners said Caltrans and the department agency of Monterey county say they've done their best to make sure drivers know the businesses are open.
