SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Barbara continues to see a steady flow of travelers use city hotel and motel rooms, which means more money being put into city coffers.
For the month of April 2013, the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) received by the City of Santa Barbara was $1,182,635, which represents a 4.8 percent increase over April 2012. It is the biggest amount of TOT revenue in a single month for the city since October 2012, when more than $1.2 million was generated.
The city has now collected $11.7 million in TOT revenue for the fiscal year, which ends this month. The revenue is a 6.4 percent increase over the same time period last year. The city has announced it appears to be on track to meet its budgeted growth of 6.1 percent and its current adopted budget for TOT at $14,489,200.
