SAN MATEO, Calif. -- According to the San Mateo Coroner, 16-year old Ye Meng Yuan was alive when she was hit by a fire truck after Asiana Airlines flight 214 crashed at the San Francisco Airport.
The coroner's office held a news conference on Friday at 10:00 a.m. to release details of how the teen died.
Fire officials say the 16-year old Chinese student survived the crash at the San Francisco International Airport but was accidentally run over by one or two fire trucks that were racing towards the plane. Ye Meng Yuan died of blunt force trauma after being hit by the emergency truck, the coroner said.
Yuan's classmate, 16-year old Wang Linjia was also killed from the initial plane crash. Another victim, 15-year old Liu Yipeng died from injuries from the crash later at the hospital on July 12th.
