SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- Two months ago 14 people and a juvenile were arrested for smuggling drugs at Montana De Oro. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office found a panga boat and a trail of evidence left behind. Thursday 11 suspects appeared in court to answer to the charges. Three of the panga suspects have already entered plea deals.
The number of defendants have continued to shrink and today was no different. Mario Baguada plead no contest to the transportation of marijuana. He also admitted to being in the possession of a hand gun. He has received the stiffest plea deal of a 3 year sentence in prison and county jail with time served.
Three more defacements, Francisco Garcia, Hector Augustine, and Eugenio Bonilla also plead no contest to transportation of marijuana. They each face 2 years in prison and county jail with time served. All the defendants who are not U.S. citizens could potentially be deported back to Mexico after their sentence.
The last day to enter into a plea deal is Monday. Trial is set for August 6th.
