KING CITY, Calif. -- Police responded to reports of a shooting Thursday afternoon along the 300 block of North Vanderhurst Avenue.
Dispatch reported the suspect appeared to be shooting at another car in the area of North Vanderhurst Avenue and Collins Street. One of the vehicles was described as a small green car. It was last seen speeding off towards Broadway Street, police said.
Investigators located the green car along the 400 block of Bassett Street with two male victims inside. Neither of the victims were hit by any bullets but told police the suspect's car was a gray two-door vehicle with a large sticker in the back window. The suspect car was last seen driving East on Collins Street towards North Third Street.
Several law enforcement agencies activated ROPE after a description of the suspect was given to Monterey and San Benito County agencies.
The identity of the two victims is being withheld because both victims have been previous victims of an attempted murder last year in two separate incidents.
Investigators believe the shooting is gang related. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-800-78-CRIME.
