WASHINTON, D.C.- As the nation commemorates the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King's iconic I Have A Dream speech, Americans from across the country gathered at the National Mall to be a part of the tribute.
A who's who of celebrities and politicians are in attendance at the "Let Freedom Ring" celebration. President Obama will make remarks, as will former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. Caroline Kennedy also spoke about her father, saying he watched from the White House 50 years ago as the march was in progress. Celebrities including Oprah and Jamie Foxx are also scheduled to speak and members of Martin Luther King's family are also present.
The final refrain of Martin Luther King Jr.'s most famous speech will echo around the world as bells from churches, schools and historical monuments "let freedom ring" in celebration of a powerful moment in civil rights history.
