GREENFIELD, Calif -The SPCA for Monterey County executed a warrant and rescued over 30 cats and kittens from a house on 6th Street in Greenfield. According to humane officers, the house where the cats were kept was covered in feces and the odor of urine was so strong you could easily smell it from outside the house.
The surviving cats and kittens are currently undergoing emergency medical evaluation and treatment at the SPCA. The rescued cats are underweight and suffering from upper respiratory infections and ear mites.

Having more than the typical number of companion animals
Failing to provide even minimal standards of nutrition, sanitation, shelter, and veterinary care, with this neglect often resulting in illness and death from starvation, spread of infectious disease, and untreated injury or medical condition
Denial of the inability to provide this minimum care and the impact of that failure on the animals, the household, and human occupants of the dwelling
