MONTEREY, Calif- The traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 1 and State Route 68 (West) will be temporarily shut down on Thursday, October 10, in order to switch over to a new system, said the California Department of Transportation.
The signal will be shut down for one day only, Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9 am to 3 pm. The intersection will remain open with workers directing traffic. Caltrans only expects a delay of 15 minutes.
This is part of the 2 ½ mile paving project of on/off-ramps that recently began on Highway 1 in Monterey from State Route 68 (East) to State Route 68 (West). A total of 12 on/off-ramps along Hwy. 1 will be paved with hot mix asphalt, which will include: State Route 68 (west) in both directions; Munras Ave. in both directions; Soledad Dr. in both directions; Aguajito Rd, in both directions; and the southbound State Route 68 off-ramp at Fremont St. This project should be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.
