Dear Jon – There's a lot of confusion out there with regard to the Affordable
Care Act, making it hard for Americans to know just what's true or false. I
received a question from a concerned senior about Medicare and the ACA. He
asks, ‘Dear Jon, I keep getting told when I turn 76, that on the Affordable Care
Act, I will be kicked off of Medicare. Is this true or false?"
The answer to the
question is false. My expert source on insurance says once you're on Medicare, your
benefits remain in force. The Affordable Care Act has little if any affect on
the Medicare Beneficiaries and their benefits. So no worries, once you're on Medicare
that is your primary health insurance vehicle.
It's unfortunate that
there are those use scare tactics to confuse the facts about the affordable
care act. The ACA is designed to insure those who otherwise don't have access
to health coverage through state exchanges or to employees of businesses that
fall below minimum standards.
